Azure Networking Virtual Network - Principal Program ManagerMicrosoft Jan 2017 - PresentGreater Seattle AreaI currently work on Azure's virtualized network which enables thousands of customers to safely share a networking infrastructure that spans the globe with each feeling like they're all alone on our network. I work on features which expand connectivity options to IoT and Mobile (IPv6); and simplify the creation and maintenance of highly secure customer networks (VNETs) within Azure. -
Azure Networking Datapath - Senior Program ManagerMicrosoft Feb 2012 - Jan 2017Redmond, WaAs Azure Networking’s Datapath Program Manager- I worked to boost network performance in datacenters across the world to enable breakthrough experiences for our Azure Cloud customers. Expertise: Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) Networking, IPv6 at scale, Accelerating deployment of cutting edge networking technology through strategic partnerships. -
Windows High Performance Computing - Senior Lead Program ManagerMicrosoft Mar 2005 - Feb 2012Redmond, WaAs Lead Program Manager, I joined a small team of MS and industry veterans to break Microsoft into the rarified environment of high performance computing where a single “job” can run across 1,000’s of servers in the engineering simulation, financial analysis, and other compute-intensive markets. This project was equal parts: developing a new Windows market; and proving the Windows OS can run with the Big Dogs. -
Windows Mobile (Phones)Microsoft Jun 2000 - Mar 2005Redmond, WaI jumped into the brave new world (in June 2000) of mobile devices at the world’s largest software company. Leveraging my Enterprise background I focused on the security and manageability which would be key for business to embrace mobile devices. A lot of experience was packed into these 5 years: I broke new technical ground (4 patents) and became a Lead Program Manager- once again responsible for the careers and livelihoods of others. The environment was demanding [business/technical/cross-team] so I learned fast and after some success was promoted to Group Program Manager coordinating the efforts of 50+ people to ship a major release. -
Web Portals - Product ManagerFilenet Mar 1999 - Jun 2000Kirkland, WaStrategic product planning and product manager for FileNET’s web-based products and initiatives. I leveraged my experience with Enterprise-class customers to define a new (web portal based) product space for an older document management company. We assembled some of the first automated web-based content portals to front-end Filenet’s high- volume document & image management products…leveraging new value from the company’s legacy investments.

Manager Of Strategic Programs, Cae Data Mgmt GroupMsc Software Jan 1991 - Mar 1999Costa Mesa, Ca; Bellevue, WaOpened a new market to MSC’s mechanical simulation software by linking it with the advanced materials community. The goal was to enable engineers to efficiently leverage new composite and plastic materials to differentiate their products- making them lighter, stronger, or more affordable. I PM'd a small team to develop Enterprise-class software to manage and integrate complex materials information with simulation software for accurate prediction of stress, fluid/heat flow, and fatigue failures. -
Lead Structural/Thermal AnalystSpectron Development Labs Oct 1988 - Jan 1991Costa Mesa, CaI “graduated” from Rockwell to lead my first engineering team at Spectron where we evolved ideas and prototypes from a talented team of PhD’s into ground-breaking products tough enough to fly on the Space Shuttle and SR-71 BlackbirdHaving earned my technical chops and honed my cross-group skills as an individual engineer at Rockwell, I was eager to work in a smaller company and, with the help of a great boss/coach, to lead my first technical team. My small team of mechanical engineers collaborated on the structure and thermal designs and certified the structural safety and in-flight performance of complex laser devices for fighter aircraft and the Space Shuttle. I quickly realize that people are much more complex than spacecraft!

Stress & Dynamics EngineerRockwell International - Space Systems Division May 1984 - Oct 1988Seal Beach, Ca“Higher, faster, further” – I started my career in Aerospace working on the Global Position System [and other] satellites and primary research on structural vibration control. After graduating college, Rockwell is where my real education started. I learned to use math models and judgment to keep people and payloads safe on GPS and other satellite programs. And even this early on I was developing “products”: I wrote software to quickly reality-check the models against hard test data; and adapted and refined a new form of impact testing to quickly resolve structural problems…and keep the world's first satellite “assembly line” moving.
