I started working for the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) in July of 1998. Prior to working at ITK, I was with Makivik Corporation working with the Research Department in the village of Kangirsualujjuaq. Before that, I conducted an Inuit youth project in Clyde River for three years, lived in Igloolik outpost camp looking at subsistence practices, and ran a harvest survey project in Wainwright Alaska for four years. I first began working with the Inuit in 1976 in northern Labrador teaching archaeological skills to Inuit youth. Since that time I have lived and worked in many Canadian Inuit regions as well as, Greenland and Alaska.my previous employment background includes archaeological, environmental, geography and anthropological work all in the circumpolar region. I've been fortunate to live and work in many remote Inuit communities and outpost camps learning first hand about the lives and aspiration of Inuit. Some of my publications include; The Inuit of Nunavik Statement of Claim to Labrador, The Cost Benefit of Modern Inuit Hunting: The Kapuijivingmuit of Foxe Basin, Nunavut 1996, Customary Law and Wildlife Management in Northern Labrador: A study for the Labrador Inuit Association, 1984.I received a graduate degree from McGill University and a Bachelor of Art degree in Arctic Geography from Hampshire College in Amherst Massachusetts. I also received a diploma from the Center from Northern Studies in Wolcott Vermont. My main duties at ITK are in the education and communication of environment contaminants to the Inuit regions.
