Eric MacDonald is from Haleiwa, Hawaii and currently resides in Panama City Florida. He joined the Navy in 1986 to see the world and have an epic adventure. The plan worked; Eric retired in 2019 as a Navy Chief Warrant Officer Five USN Diving Officer (CWO5). His adventure led to over 33 years of diving, salvage and ship repair experience. Commissioned in 2000, Eric served 15 years as an enlisted diver and 18 as a Diving Officer. He has participated and led all forms of complex underwater operations. Served as Officer in Charge of four separate Mobile Diving and Salvage Units, Training Officer, Operations Officer and Command Diving Officer at major combat, diving, and ship repair units. His last two assignments at NAVSEA (Navy yard DC) and Center for EOD and Diving CEODD (Panama City, FL) his team completely rewrote Navy’s highest level OPNAV diving Policy, USN Dive Manual Rev 7 and all Navy Diver PQS qualification standards. He also served as Inspector General (IG) lead diving compliance inspector and accident/incident investigator. Eric has a Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health specializing in dive safety and policy compliance. Married 33 years, kids, dog, cats, boat, lifted golf cart, likes long walks on the beach and sunsets.
