I am interested in the business side of forestry and how we as humans can be the solution and not the problem to the many issues we face today concerning ecosystem damage. I am a senior at The University of Florida, I plan on going into the forestry field after graduation and eventually becoming a private lands consultant. The main issue that I struggle with within the business side of the forestry market is the steady decline of timber due to over harvesting in certain areas. I understand that the timber business is a very important factor to all of the wood we as consumers see on a daily basis, however I do believe that there are different and more practical ways of logging that does not involve taking out entire forests at a time.
