I work closely with plant engineers to complete research projects in the Integrated Biorefinery Research Facility (IBRF). Our goal is to reduce the cost of producing ethanol to make it a competitor to fossil fuels. Ethanol displaces gasoline making our environment cleaner and cutting America's dependence on foreign oil.My responsibilities are focused on supporting pilot plant operations. These include:-Operation of pilot plant equipment such as biochemical reactors, stirred tank reactors, fermenters, etc.-Design and implementation of modifications to existing and new equipment to improve efficiency and performance.-Troubleshooting and maintenance of pilot plant equipment.-Updating and maintenance of process and instrumentation diagrams
