Critical access hospital, we do it all from cradle to grave literally. I had to refresh some of my knowledge for pediatrics and labor and delivery. Ratios of about 1 to 4 not all that fast paced, but I am so grateful for the chance to learn a whole lot of different nursing from a crew of motivated professionals. I am going to miss this crew of wonderful caring nurses and staff. The administration was forward thinking and I believe this will be one of the best rural hospitals in the nation someday soon.

Med-Surge/Tele for a mostly Behavioral Health population. Lot's of OD's and DT's as well as cardiac, pulmonary, and general med-surge care. Lot's of high acuity patient's very fast paced 40 bed unit in a 275 bed hospital.

transfer patients from rooms to imaging dept for CT scans, MRI's, Nuclear scans, EKG's ECG's, EEG's, X-rays, and vascular procedures. Coordinate with nursing and monitoring staff to ensure proper report before and after the procedure. Explain upcoming procedures to patients and family. Most importantly make my patients laugh and smile during a stressful period where the loneliness and uncertainty can become oppressive.

As a member of the Hospice volunteer team I serve terminally ill patients and their families by spending time with the patients and assisting the staff at a residential care facility.

Working as a transporter for the imaging dept of a hospital has really increased my understanding of anatomy and given me valuable insight into the procedures performed in the imaging dept which I can pass onto my patients in the near future.
