Staff Occupational Therapist
CurrentOccupational therapy services for subacute rehabilitation and long-term care.• Screening, evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning• Communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary team• Wheelchair assessment and modification• Assessment for suitability of and training in use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices• Education and training of clients and staff members in safe use of prosthetic devices• Education and training of caregivers and staff in injury prevention, safe patient handling, and safe patient movement• Assessment for suitability of, and provision of, orthotic devices for upper extremity• Supervision of COTA treatment sessions and reviewing documentation• Documentation audits as needed• Inventory and ordering equipment for rehab department• General caregiver education, including staff in-servicing• Falls safety assessment and falls prevention education of patients, caregivers, and staff• Creation, implementation, and supervision of skilled therapeutic groups• Training of rehab aides to provide additional adjunctive exercise and education programs• Quarterly auditing of assistive devices and equipment provided to residents to ensure continued safety• Implementation of virtual reality therapies• In-house environmental modification to facilitate safety and independence in ADLs and mobility• Advocating for OT on-site, including education of other staff on the role, scope, and benefits of OT• Education and supervision of Level I and Level II OT students
