Editor for Balberry Publishing involved work on a number of books designated for distribution in the Middle East, including English for Starters 6 (Syria), Action Pack 1 (Jordan) and New Fun with English (Kuwait). Liaison with authors, freelance teams, designers and in-house editors in order to complete these projects to tight deadlines. Content editing was a comprehensive part of the job, together with proofreading, providing comments on artwork and placing photos. Also dealt with international offices on a regular basis. Skills needed: Have had over three and a half years ELT experience at the primary, secondary and adult education level.Achievements: Saw English for Starters 6 (EFS6) through to colour lasers and disc and also completed a beginner's book bound for Jordan. Worked on revised editions for New Fun with English covering five different grades. This involved editing content for Student Books, Activity Books and Teacher's Books. Also attended recording of the books in studio, liaising with producers and actors at the Soundhouse studios in west London. Had to produce draft and final tapescripts for these sessions.

Responsibilities: Editorial and writing duties for a financial website. Duties included an analysis of company results, which reached the website through the RNS news service, a press review completed by selecting business stories from four national newspapers, and the composition of headlines, thrice daily, each with its own summary. Various sporting business stories were also added. Commentated on the risers and fallers on the stock market and added the daily directors dealings. Weekly tasks included the sector review and weekly economic review and also participation in web design, the development of the bulletin board and research for the financial dictionary. Selecting data for IPO's, the writing of the help page, adding results forecasts and producing a television and radio preview completed my duties. Skills needed: Needed to demonstrate excellent grammatical accuracy and an extensive vocabulary. Also needed to exercise good communication skills whilst working with colleagues. Achievements: Achieved main aim in setting up the website and keeping it up-to-date whilst working to very tight deadlines. Also managed to learn a great deal about working in an online environment.
