Mill leader for St. Helens operation. Mill consists of two machines producing 110,000 tons per year of tissue, napkin, and towel products. Responsible for all aspect of the mill including sales decisions. • Completed a “Stand Alone” project when Boise Inc. ceased operations on the mill site. Project included creating mill capabilities in maintenance, utilities, purchasing, safety, and environmental. • Executed $45 million project to rebuild fine paper machine into wet crepe towel and napkin machine.o Hired and trained 23 hourly and 5 staff for the new organization.o Exceeded OEE startup curve by 9%.o Led product and business development activities. Machine making all target grades within 3 months.• Mill project manager for SAP implementation. Modules implemented include Order to Cash, Logistics Execution, Procure to Pay, Plan & Manage, and Production.

Responsible for the operation of the H3 tissue machine making 160 tons/day of tissue, napkin, and toweling grades• Implemented the use of enzymes in the mill for strength enhancement. This resulted in setting a new annual production record of 173 tons/day. The old record was 164 tons/day.

Accountable for the operation of the paper production department. Areas of responsibility included safety, production, efficiency, cost control, sales and marketing interface, and new product development.

Responsible for overall performance of the #2 paper machine at St. Helens, including safety, production, efficiency, cost control, and new product development. Interfaced with sales and marketing on product quality, new grade development, and system cost reduction.• Completed over 5 years without a recordable injury on H2.• Justified, installed, and optimized new dilution control headbox (first in company). Benefits included:o Increased machine speed by 400 fpm to 2,300. o Lowered minimum basis weight from 18 to 15 lb/3,000.• Guided development of flexible packaging grades on H2. This grade line displaced half of the grade mix at 30% improved EBITDA margin.

Supervised 36 hourly employees on the H2 paper machine and starch areas. Coordinated operator training. Performed annual performance reviews. Planned, scheduled, and supervised operator duties during maintenance outages.

Total quality leader for the #2 paper machine at the St. Helens Mill. H2 produced 155 tons/day of lightweight opaque printing papers. Other responsibilities included cost reduction projects, new product development, and capital project justification.

Duties involved developing and testing new methods to improve product quality and reduce cost the department production areas. Department areas include the digesters, bleach plant, limekiln, recausticizing, tall oil plant, and wood yard. Later moved to the kraft linerboard machine making 1,350 tons per day.

Sitka, Alaska

Duties involved developing, running, and interpreting trials of new equipment or process chemicals. Specialized in digester, bleach plant, and machine room areas.
