With over 20 years of extensive P&C experience I primarily focused on producing underwriting profit using my experience in niche, hard to place markets. My focus and area of expertise is in the cannabis insurance space. I cut my teeth at Benchmark Insurance Company (BIC), a grocery focused nationwide Carrier as a Senior Underwriter. There I was responsible for the performance and profitability of an $8M (P&C and Workers Compensation) book of business comprised of TIV’s up to $500M and risk profiles ranging from traditional guaranteed cost to large self-insured retention offerings on multiple lines of business. In 2007 I helped form an MGA Supermarket Group, Inc. (SIG) with other key Carrier BIC executive's to provide a tailored P&C Package product for independently owned and operated grocery retailers nationwide. Built from the ground up and entirely off organic growth I was responsible for the underwriting results as well as responsible for managing Agency and Carrier relationships. SIG was purchased by a leading transportation MGA based out of Nashville, TN in 2017. Looking for a new challenge under the Avant umbrella, in 2018 I assisted in forming a new cannabis division SafeHerb. There I provided my intimate knowledge dealing with multifaceted complex grocery accounts helping structure underwriting guidelines, forms, rates, and became the lead underwriter on the program.
