I reported to the director of the custom solutions department and was responsible for architecting solutions for our largest cable tv customers related to order/payment/subscriber efficiencies, guardrails, and custom processes. Typically these were custom solutions that were out of reach for their internal IT departments due to cost, timeline, or complexity. There was often direct interaction with various departments of our largest customers to listen to business problems, offer solutions, and possibly collaborate with one of their teams or build the solution entirely. I excelled at training, guiding, and mentoring less experienced developers in the USA and other countries in a development-operations (DevOps) environment. I was accountable for ensuring timely delivery of new solutions along with maintaining and enhancing existing solutions with newer processes and technology.

This was a new position designed to create a software-solutions support team. I reported to the director of the custom solutions department and was responsible for four employees performing maintenance and full-software-support for over twenty custom solutions written in multiple languages and platforms.I formed and grew an entirely new team with many process efficiencies within the professional services department to provide support and maintenance for custom solutions and processes. This resulted in a drastic reduction in incidents and escalations while positively generating new sources of revenue.I hired, trained, and mentored a college-graduate who outperformed all other software developers in his title. This benefitted the entire department in stabilizing many solutions that had incidents and escalations formerly requiring developers to work nights and weekends. The developer was given a roadmap to success in higher ranking positions eventually becoming a Senior Manager himself.

• Implemented various landing page order rules associated with telecom, internet, and Prism-TV products. Campaign sales increased and targeting sales increased as measured by analytics software. • Orchestrated numerous troubleshooting scripts across inbound webservers to identify malicious IP’s harvesting zip codes and market data. This resulted in improved security until a more permanent fix could be put in place by network security teams.• Implemented numerous improvements to web-servers and build processes to decrease CI/CD timeframes.

• Designed and developed landing page gadgets and widgets for broadband subscribers such as weather, call-logs, my-account, channel-guide-listings, and contacts. This resulted in customer retention and ad-based revenue in cooperation with the Microsoft “Live.com” platform.• Large scale server solution written in Java to capture telephone network events published on Tibco bus platform. These messages were aggregated and summarized for a telephone subscribers inbound and outbound call logs history. Voice mail message playback was included. This was one of the very first voice-mail audio playback functions available.

• Maximized throughput and accuracy for an automated order flow-through engine handling tens of thousands of orders per day as part of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 wherein competitive-local-exchange-carriers could resell telecommunication products on the network to their own customer base. This resulted in compliance and approval to sell long-distance service in the US West 14 state region. Optimizing this platform saved significant cost in the early days where large scale Sun Microsystems UNIX servers were at a premium price.

• Participated in developing and implementing an automated warehousing system for telecom featuring state of the art mobile RF devices, thermal printers on forklifts and other warehousing equipment, along with support of an optimized shipping interface. This process lowered costs and increased efficiencies for picking, packaging, and shipping operations in the Denver, CO, Telecom warehouse.

• Optimized the payroll cycle for a 7,500-employee subsidiary by providing business requirements around keyboard macros, default payroll data entries, and optimized audit reports. This resulted in a seven-headcount reduction of temporary labor savings to the payroll department.

• I achieved proficiency in desktop tools such as Lotus, Word-Perfect, and early messaging platforms to provide Power-Point-like presentations focused on financial goals, results, and statements. This resulted in much quicker turnaround for many presentations instead of using a traditional graphics department.
