I am currently a graduate student in the Cancer Biology Dept. in the laboratory of Dr. Lance Miller. My research is focused on identifying potential candidate regulators of immune cell trafficking into tumors using bioinformatics approaches, and to then characterize and validate these potential candidates using in-vitro and in-vivo models. In particular, I am trying to identify tumor-derived immunosuppressive factors that limit effector lymphocyte infiltration into tumors, and to understand mechanistically how these molecules actuate their immunosuppressive capabilities. Further understanding of these immunosuppressive forces will eventually lead to improved efficacy of immunotherapies via concomitant blockade of these factors.
