CurrentA. Establishing and utilizing a checklist to monitor the physical plan of the operating room and equipment for conformity to all national standards for ensuring safety for the patient and all personnel.B. Maintains open communication lines, both intradepartmental and interdepartmentally, to provide for total needs of the patient.C. Maintaining a record of patient history and prepare reports and recovery charts.D. Assisting the surgeon during operations such as: passing equipment, administering injections and other related works.E. Maintaining a comfortable and safe environment for the patient - before and after the operation.F. Delivering direct patient care; assesses patients physical, psychosocial and emotional needs; provides patient and family teaching; triages patients and informs physician of patient status; responds to phone messages from patients and informs physicians as needed; orders supplies; stocks and maintains patient’s rooms; sterilizes instruments.G. Administering medications as assigned; serves as a resource person for knowledge of medication uses, side effects, and dosage; checks for proper medication order; documents medications; obtains required consent forms to administer immunizations; notifies pharmacies of physician approved prescriptions; reviews drug samples to insure they have not exceeded the expiration date; labels sample drugs and educates patients of medication administration.H. Maintaining sterile field during intraoperative period until patient is discharged at operating room complex. I. Cases handled such as: Carpal Tunnel Release, Discectomy, Laminectomy, Lumbar Screw Fixation, Cervical Discectomy, Cervical Caging, Cervical Plating, Craniotomy, Evacuation of Hematoma (Dural and Sub Dural), Correction of Fractured Skull, Ventriculo -Peritoneal Shunting, Spinal Tumor Excision, Brain Tumor Excision, Myelomenigocele Repair, Open Reduction Internal Fixation, Plating, K – Wire insertion, Dynamic Hip Screw Insertion.
