Macomb Mi

On a daily basis I work with the software Tebis. For the most part I do design work for aerospace and automotive design. I create a work zone for the machinist and programmers out on the shop floor. Most work zones have 2 setups for machining.I also us a FCS Guideline software. This software is used for faster more accurate machining. It also cuts down on setup time. All jobs are different when it comes to machining capabilities of a detail and that's where I use my past machining and programming skills to help in the work zones. I have to be able to take a detail that has no flat surfaces on it and design a way to hold onto the detail so it can be machined in the fastest time. This may include creating extra surfaces, that the customer has not provided us with. There are many different ways to machine a detail. Most of the time there is only one way, that is the fastest, and creates a good clean detail that checks to all GD&T when completed and that's what I have to be able to look at before I even get started on a detail. Here at Baker we do all kinds of different work for many different customers in all fields. Bakers website is very well done and gives u a great example of what types of jobs we complete. Every detail that gets machined at Baker I have looked at and setup a work zone for.

Odyssey is a Aerospace based company, dealing with large tooling. While working there I was involved in the cnc programming for multiple cnc machines. The software that I was using to complete the programming end was Tebis. Machinest when i first hired in to see how the operations went, then moved into the cnc programming room. ( Tebis Software )While working at Odyssey I have programmed for dimensions and tolerancing, sometimes it is wide open. At Odyssey we cut everthing from alum to Invar.small x80 y30 z30 3x fadals, to a x717 y240 z80 live 5x/3+2 high speed Henry Line'. Other machines are 3+2 CME, live 5x /3+2 high speed Mazak, live 5x/3+2 high speed rotary trunnion table Unisign fastest I have ever seen, live 5x/3+2 high speed Mecof Air One, live 5x/3+2 FTP to name a few. most of my day i deal with tight GD&T. I have done work for Air Bus,ATK,Boeing,Middle River,Sikorsky,Vought, and Spirit to name a few.

Machinist/Cnc Programmer

Shelby Twp. Michigan

-Started out in shipping I was a driver for pickups and drop offs. (6 months)-Worked running a sheer, cutting material to size for a laser or blanks for the press room. Also did the ordering of the material. Most times I would have to read prints to obtain the correct blank size for the part we were stamping. Find out what type of metal we need to complete the part. Spent many hours breaking down the ASTM specs on the materials to make sure I ordered the correct type. (1.5 years)-Went into the Bridgeport department to learn how to run a lath, surface grinder and bridgeports. (1 year)-From there I moved into the CNC department and that's where I felt like I was at home. From day one I was running 3 axis CNC and programming in Mastercam. Didn't take long and I was the head programmer on the company. I was programming for 7 machines 3 shifts and using tool changers. All the machinist had to do was load the tools and hit start. Really enjoyed the programming side of it. From there it all can together I started to design machine fixtures for small prototype parts. I got into programming thru coolent trills that would drill steel at 200 inch per min or faster. While doing this I took a few classes at Macomb Community College learning about feeds a speeds when programming. This really opened my eyes on the future of machining.
