Dr. Eric Shoemaker is a Colorado native. He grew up in Denver and completed his undergraduate degree at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. He graduated from medical school in 2008 from Nova Southeastern University with highest honors, and scored in the 96th percentile on his national board certification examination. He returned home to complete his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation through the University of Colorado. Dr. Shoemaker completed a fellowship in interventional spine and sports medicine at Washington University in St. Louis; one of only a small number of ACGME accredited fellowships of its kind. Dr. Shoemaker is triple board-certified in Sports Medicine, Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He is also level II accredited by the Colorado Division of Workers Compensation. His clinical interests include acute and chronic neck and back pain, sacroiliac joint pain, hip disorders and shoulder pain. He has a special interest in the hip-spine connection as well as the scapulo-cervical connection. Dr. Shoemaker has advanced training in interventional spine medicine and procedures, ultrasound guided procedures, and electrodiagnostic (EMG/NCV) testing. Dr. Shoemaker focuses on the clinical application of evidence based medicine. He was selected by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment to advise the Colorado Division of Workers Compensation in updating the medical treatment guidelines for the state. He is an instructor with the Spine Intervention Society teaching other physicians at a national level the clinical application of evidence based medicine including hands on techniques. He speaks nationally on this and other subjects.
