I oversee delivery services contracts exceeding a combined total of more than $700,000 per annum, covering operational and maintenance works for external customers. My role also encompasses on business growth opportunities to maximise revenue for PowerNet through traditional network services PowerNet provide and also through other New Energy technology iniatives such as solar and EV charging infrastructures.

My main role in PowerNet is to look for opportunities to incorporate new energy technologies into the electricity distribution network managed by PowerNet. Some of the areas I look into are:o Microgridso Electric Vehicle Charging Stationso Load management systemso Green hydrogen in the transportation industryo Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)o Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologieso Decarbonisation of commercial and industrial processes through electrification of process heatI maintain positive stakeholder relationships with customers, vendors and suppliers of new energy technologies such as solar PV, small scale wind, batteries, inverters and electric vehicle charging stations. I perform feasibility and economic assessments for remote area power supply (RAPS) / microgrid systems and liaise with suppliers and contractors to deliver projects on site. I am also responsible for the electrification of transport and process heat sectors in PowerNet managed networks. This includes facilitating often large commercial customers in their decarbonisation journey as they apply for GIDI funding. (Government Investment in Decarbonising Industry)As uptake of electric vehicles increases year on year and electric vehicle price parity on the horizon, I project and analyse the uptake of electric vehicles to determine the effect this will cause on the electricity distribution network and determine load control measures that can be introduced to manage load constraints and increase network capacity utilisation. Besides that, my role also includes commercial due diligence and company valuation which mostly involves understanding the potential market size and technologies and understanding the value of the business.

The Christchurch Engine Centre is a JV between Air New Zealand and Pratt & Whitney, which does Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) for aircraft engines mostly of V2500 type.This project entails the calibration and certification of CNC lathe machines to establish traceability to a national standard. The CNC machines were retrofitted with a Renishaw probing system, which although accurate, does not have any OEM nor Renishaw defined calibration process. The success in the calibration and certification of the Renishaw probe has removed the need for parts machined to go through a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and thus removing the need for double processing and handling time. This increases speed and frees up potential bottlenecks through the CMM machine. The task was given to identify the process of calibrating the Renishaw probe and to provide a business case, demonstrating its value.
