Surveyed stream reaches in watersheds around the Pacific Northwest for the Northwest Forest Plan. Our surveys measure large woody debris, fine substrate accumulation, stream morphology, and macroinvertebrate biodiversity. The Ashton Prairie Living Lab is an undergraduate-led research group that monitors the environmental changes of a prairie in progress. I am leading a project monitoring the prairie's surface hydrology and am making an interactive database for the lab using SQL, Javascript, and HTML. Americorps Member - Community Garden Specialist
The main goal of the Ingham County Land Bank Garden Program is to reduce blight in neighborhoods around Michigan's Capitol Region. In my role, I helped reduce food insecurity, restored natural habitats, and supported local organic farming. To fight urban decay we replaced overgrown, foreclosed house lots with affordable neighborhood gardens. This was done to the standard of the garden lessors and local nonprofits managing the land. I was trained in chainsaw and herbicide safety, used a Kubota L3200 with multiple attachments, and other large machinery such as excavators, wood chippers, and dump trucks.We also restored natural habitats by eradicating invasive species and replacing them with native trees, shrubs, and forbs throughout Lansing.
