What drives your passions? Your hobbies? Your work?For me, it all comes from childhood memories. I remember the back patio with my dad while he grilled dinner. Little kid me would find a stick to poke into the vent hole of that little propane grill so I could play pyro while dad made magic with meat and fire. Still love that smell. I remember sitting on the kitchen counter at my neighbor's house at 3 years old smelling everything in the spice cabinet. I was fascinated by how many varieties there were. All the important people in my childhood were always cooking, and always teaching me.I've always been in love with food. I have been learning how to cook since I grew teeth. Every chef I've ever studied talked about having one bite that changed their understand of food forever. There was a moment they realized food can be something magical.For me, that was anchovies on Caesar salad at the Riverview Revolving Restaurant (now "Eighteen at the Radisson") in Convington, KY. I couldn't have been older than 4. Epiphany? Enlightenment? Revelation? YEP! For the first time, I realized how much more was out there. I realized I had only tasted the bottom right corner of the back of the canvas of a painting as big and as old as the world itself.Food is one of the universal languages. I would say, perhaps the most important. It reaches us at a soulular level. (I make up words here. Keep up.)Gathering around the table for a meal is the oldest form of human social connection. It's still critical today. - We eat. - We tell stories.- We write them down. That's where I fit now. After over 10 years flexing my tech-nerd skills in the corporate world, I'm making a change to be where I really feel at home, and have all along. The hospitality industry is going nuts with new companies popping up all the time. Hospitality-tech is the perfect marriage of my love of serving people with great food, limitless hospitality, and amazing technology. Everyone from the mom&pop pizza shop to the biggest names at FSTEC have a story to tell, marketing to sell, and content to create.
