This involved establishing, maintaining, and protecting Environmentally Sensitive Areas, surveying work areas before and after construction activities for non-compliance, monitoring Horizontal Directional Drilling activities for frac-out in environmentally sensitive areas, monitoring vegetation community restoration and invasive weed abatement activities for plant identification and project compliance, as well as directing support biological monitors and communicating with the clients as lead field biologist. Performed nesting bird surveys in compliance with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, including focused surveys for state and federally listed species (California gnatcatcher, least bell’s vireo, Swainson’s hawk, and western burrowing owl), as well as supervising support avian surveyors as lead avian biologist. Authored EIR-related documents and daily monitoring and surveying reports to be sent to the CDFW.
