Upswell is an experience design practice, working with brands across culture and commerce to create purposeful media experiences and environments. As a founding partner of Upswell, I have worked to grow the studio by consistently delivering exceptional work while defining a workplace culture that revolves around iterative design and development, a high level of ownership of work across disciplines, strategic thinking and collegial respect. As Executive Producer, I spearhead the design of compelling user experiences through conceptual direction and creative development. Over the course of working with Fortune 100 companies and cultural institutions on digital media projects, I have come to approach experience strategy through a synthesis of project management, content strategy, information architecture and usability approaches.

As an independent producer/project manager, I facilitated discovery and design phases for robust digital design projects at Fortune 500 companies. My role included supporting the team's research and design activities; managing project risk through transparent communication, attention to detail, and considered expectation-setting; overseeing team schedules, budgets, and change requests; and working closely with account managers to ensure an optimal environment for project success.

I am an adept writer, editor, and copyeditor with experience working on academic, cultural, and business projects. As a freelance copyeditor for independent scholars and academic presses, I have copyedited book-length manuscripts on political science and literature, with expertise in Chicago style. I have performed both copyediting and writing tasks at design firms and organizational management companies with industry-specific terminologies. This work required me to quickly understand and implement style guides and brand requirements for the organizations' various projects, work with editors and designers in production departments on text updates and consistency, and quickly adapt to new work contexts.I continue to take on editing and writing projects for non-profits and cultural institutions, which converges with my expertise in multimedia content development for online or on-site interactive projects.

As a freelance contractor, I worked with the Portland State Alumni Association to create HTML email templates, HTML forms on their Web site, and integrate their online content into the new PSU Web site as well as a new CMS.

During my tenure at Second Story I worked on all aspects of project management, content development, and quality assurance, in addition to becoming adept at understanding the technological requirements and possibilities of interactive digital media.As a producer, I managed both on-site and online multimedia projects from inception through installation, collaborating with the design and development teams to research, design, and produce interactive experiences for a variety of platforms. I was the primary contact for the studio's clients, working with them to acquire and develop content as well as ensuring that the interactive media met their organizational and strategic needs through weekly meetings and deliverable reviews and presentations.On a daily basis I managed several project schedules at a time, ensuring that team members were allocated appropriately for each project and had the resources required for them to pursue their work efficiently and to the utmost of their abilities. I ensured that team members met project goals at each phase of development, working with them as they defined and developed the information architecture, visual interface design, art and content needs, and functional requirements of interactive media; during the production phase I conducted and managed all quality assurance testing. Additionally, I coordinated the hardware and A/V specifications with the internal technology team and external exhibit designers and A/V integrators. As the primary content developer on the team, I researched project assets, wrote and edited text for interactive experiences, defined data requirements, developed video treatments and scripts, and directed video shoots and audio recording sessions, at the same time overseeing the tracking of all project assets.In addition, I hired contractors and participated in staff hiring committees, and contributed writing to the studio's Web site as well as other marketing materials.

Led discussion sections for large lecture courses, including all aspects of student instruction and mentorship as well as administrative duties. Designed and prepared class curriculum and assignments for Freshman writing course, lectured on effective analysis and writing, and oversaw all class administration per department policies.

I contributed technical assistance and research to two digital archive projects under the auspices of Brown University: Women Writers Online and the Modernist Journals Project.
