The Global Leadership Center is a two-year curricular and co-curricular undergraduate certificate program that prepares students to become lifelong learners in order to serve as internationally-minded, skilled, attuned, professional and experienced leaders in all walks of life, from commercial and governmental to nongovernmental and educational. Students work with other international students and institutions on real-world projects for real-world clients.Completed an international consulting project in Nha Trang, Vietnam in conjunction with Nha Trang University students to solve an organizational structure issue within a local Vietnamese aquaculture companyWorked with the University of Liberia colleagues to outline and reform microfinance initiatives to jump start women in business in rural Liberian areasCollaborated with Iraqi ministries and students on depleted uranium in Iraq and its governmental and advocacy groups in spring quarter 2010Contributed research for Harvard University’s Pluralism Project, a study of America’s changing religious landscape, concerning the New Vrindaban (Hare Krishna) community in Moundsville, West Virginia during fall 2010 -- essay published on website: http://pluralism.org/affiliates/emery/index.php (2011)Researched the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry of Venezuela for Diagnostic Hybrids, an international biomedical company. Assessed country on marketability and ease of product entry for Thyretain, a diagnostic test for detecting Graves' DiseaseCollaborated with students at the University of Leipzig on the Transatlantic Climate Bridge project. Created dialogue between the US and Germany based on a comparative of different sustainability initiatives at Ohio University and University of Leipzig. Traveled to Leipzig, Germany to continue the project and wrote a professional policy memo, which was presented to U.S. diplomats.
