On a small team at the Chamber, this role handles all communication to members and investedcommunity stakeholders. This includes social media, website management, press releases, membership profiles, e-newsletters, and editing for other communications and/or advertising. Working with the marketing team at the Smith School of Business, my responsibilities are primarily the content generation and scheduling of all the Smith social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn). Content generation requires extensive organization of editorial calendars, and collaborating with the various departments and clubs within Smith. On a daily basis I am also responsible for media relations, various editing projects with the Smith Magazine and other marketing tasks as required. Provided event support for the partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee - Game Plan, a special visit from the Governor of the Bank of Canada, Stephen Poloz, and the annual Breakfast Forecast Luncheon.

As a part of the Belleville Downtown Improvement Area team, I was responsible for establishing, encouraging and maintaining positive, constructive and proactive relationships with BDIA members, and cultivating relationships with those non-members whose actions might impact the BDIA; providing input on policy and strategic directions of municipal and community partners. I also provided support, supervision, direction and mentorship to the BDIA staff. Regularly provided deputations to City Council on behalf of the BDIA, and I was also the point of contact between the City of Belleville and downtown membership during Phase Two of the Build Belleville Downtown Infrastructure project.

In this position I gained vast event management experience on everything from arts and culture to culinary to sports. In the position of events and office coordinator I was responsible for all the planning, execution and post-event evaluation of downtown Belleville events. Day to day operations included office coordination, accounts payable, general office maintenance as well as the event coordination. This was a wonderful experience to put my varied work experience to work, as well as learning much more along the way. I was also responsible for many communications initiatives during Phase One of the Build Belleville Downtown Infrastructure program.

For many years I was employed with the City of Belleville. I have been responsible for the care and swimming instruction of many people with ages ranging from 6 months old to 90 years old. As a lifeguard I was also responsible for the maintenance of a safe chemical balance in the pool area. In the role of shift supervisor I was given more responsibility in making sure the staff were well organized and everything was running efficiently. It also highly improved my communication skills as I was often dealing with the public; in happy and irate conditions.I was also a camp leader for 2 years at the City of Belleville "Stars of the Stage" day camp. Here I was given the duty of organizing a complete drama program for children aged 6 to 14. We did a production at the conclusion of every two weeks. The challenge with this camp was the incorporation of both outdoor and indoor activities, ranging from crafts, to dramatic games to sports. I was also required to educate many leaders in training along the way in the summer.While I still substitute when required (including beyond the time period listed), I am not here as often as before.

On the weekends you would find me at several Kingston community events on behalf of the Kingston Frontenacs. As a member of the Kingston Frontenacs & St. Lawrence College (SLC) Community Team, I was responsible with the team for the promotion of this OHL team. During events I assisted with the set-up and take down of promotional materials, and maintain a high level of energy and enthusiasm while interacting with the fan base. A knowledge of the sport and team is a definite benefit as the fans are incredibly passionate about discussing the Kingston Frontenacs.

Working at the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) department at Queen's University, I reported to the vice-provost, as well as a variety of deans, and managers. I supported several SGS projects. My responsibilities on a day to day basis included editing documents and webpages, updating websites and special projects, as well as a variety of graphic design tasks using the Adobe Creative Suite CS6. I enjoyed the challenge of graphic design and working in a fast paced environment. This position requires extensive time management and prioritization skills while reporting to a few different people and on several projects at once.

Starting in the recruitment department in September, I traveled around Ontario promoting the college. I hosted several high school presentations, represented Loyalist at career fairs, and traveled with several other Ontario Colleges as part of the College Information Program. After a couple months of being on the road recruiting, I moved into the position of Tele-Campaign Supervisor. Working with a team of Loyalist students, we reached out to those who have expressed interest and/or applied to the college and answered any questions they may have about the Loyalist experience. In addition to the reporting and organization involved in the role of Tele-Campaign Supervisor, I also took prospective students on tours around the campus, where I had great success in turning applicants to confirmed offers.

I always said I wanted to work in radio, and now I can say I have! I have spent two years driving around to events all over the region, giving away free goodies and talking to people. It was an amazing experience, where I learned much about the radio broadcasting world, promotions, event management and PR.

My overall goal in this position was to get the Belleville Bulls out into the community. My daily activities included event planning & organization, communications and searching out new opportunities. Annual events included: Season Ticket Holder BBQ, Breakfast with the Bulls, Santa Claus Parade, Bowling with the Bulls, and school visits. I enjoyed the many charitable events we attended, as well as several different community events. In my time there, I was also the flexible employee who took on administrative tasks, and marketing and sales. I also continue to make appearances in Belleville Bulls games as the "Fan in the Stands" and anthem singer.

As the Community Relations Coordinator (CRC) it was my responsibility to manage and assist the management team in the execution of national and local store marketing initiatives. Whether building positive, on-going relationships with local businesses, schools, sports teams and community organizations, I was able to educate the local community about the Boston Pizza brand, concept and programs. I was also responsible for developing BP Belleville an online presence. Currently you can see the on-going development of their social media platforms that were initiated during my employment.

In a summer internship, I worked among the Paradigm team on a variety of different tasks. Since beginning late May I learned extensive knowledge on various media websites as well as MRP, infomart, Radian6 and Cision. Amidst the media tasks I also assisted in the day to day requirements of the office such as constructing media kits, general clean up and organization, as well as running errands. Stepping into many projects, I have now worked on several client teams to get as much experience as possible.

In the communications hub of the Queen's Alumni Association at Queen's University I was faced with a variety of tasks including: assistance on promotion of events, interaction with traditional media for promotion, using social media platforms, writing tasks and many team based projects. Working with as many departments within Alumni Relations as possible, I got a broad range of experiences in the communications sector.

Responsible for answering phones, interacting with clientele and maintaining the office supply stock as receptionist. Also efficient in QuickBooks, entering data, preparing invoices and issuing payment. During my employment at They I was also encouraged to have a lot of interaction with employees to learn about the marketing techniques and media plans.

As a don I was responsible for the social planning, emotional support and floor decorating of two residence floors. Upon my arrival into my position, I was able to pick up the training quickly that was required as well as maintaing a good academic standing, extracurriculars and a part time job. From this experience I learned how to deal with sensitive matters, disciplinary issues as well as how to organize and use my time strategically. We were also responsible for attending weekly meetings, filling out proper paperwork, keeping a strong team based approach to donning and completing our programming requirements.

I began my employment at the YMCA of Belleville as a volunteer. I dedicated many hours each week to volunteering in the pool with swimming lessons. After obtaining my qualifications I joined the staff. Similar to my position at the City of Belleville, we were required to maintain a safe and respectable environment. I instructed infants to adults on swimming skills and aquatic safety. When I was lifeguarding, I was required to maintain safe chemical levels as well as enforce the rules of the pool. Whether teaching or lifeguarding I was constantly communicating with the members and visitors of the Belleville YMCA. This was an extremely positive experience because I learned to communicate with people of all different cultural, social and religious backgrounds. The YMCA was a very diverse location and it was an amazing experience to get to know each of the members as individuals.
