As the VP of Programs, I serve as an Executive Member and key contributor of Surge, startup non-profit organization, nationally recognized as an Elite Leadership acceleration opportunity for people of color within Education. Facilitates monthly meetings to facilitate executive skill building activities, executive coaching, and leadership training. Some of my key contributions are as follows: » Designed entire Fellowship curriculum including Arc, Foundational Program Goals and Objectives. » Implemented successful execution of 11-month Fellowship Program for two cohorts. » Collaborated with local executives in area and facilitated guest speaking initiatives. » Dramatically increased quality and diversity of Fellowship candidate pool from 32% to 51% acceptance over an 18-month period.» Increased Latino and Gender accepts, leading to a 17% increase in Latino applicants and 13% increase in Male applicants.

As the Chief Officer of Human Capital, I served as an Executive Officer and second in command for Civitas Education Partners, a charter school management organization that operates four campuses within Chicago. I managed the HR Department and re-designed the organization’s strategy to align with values. Some of my key contributions are as follows: » Designed, implemented, and managed full-cycle recruitment, hiring and onboarding strategy for new employees across all schools. » Revamped existing structure and provided appropriate guidelines for Human Resources and Human Capital. » Created a successful new hire orientation strategy for incoming employees. » Managed benefits administration for over 200 employees. Successfully passed Federal Audit for benefits year over year. » Negotiated two Union contracts with teaching staff at a unionized charter school. Led and navigated negotiations regarding benefits and human capital aspects of the contract. » Increased candidate pool and attracted applications from higher quality candidates within the Chicago area. » Implemented new culture around HR department and motivated company staff to engage positively with HR department.

As an Officer within the Office of Extended Learning Opportunities Office, I directed several district-wide after-school programs, serving over 250K students in over 500 schools. Some of my key contributions are as follows:» Managed operating budget of $80M and a staff of 17 full-time employees. » Developed and managed a network of private and non-profit service providers and partnered with agencies to provide additional programs for students and families that aligned with CPS’ education priorities. » Managed all corporate and philanthropic relationships related to Extended Learning. » Received National recognition for administering the largest Supplemental Education Services tutoring program in the country. » Invited to testify in front of Congress in Washington DC – House Committee on Education and the Workforce. » Developed and expanded the CPS Community Schools Initiative to become the largest district within the country in its category.

As the Recruitment Director for the Midwest Region, I managed an ambitious recruitment campaign by promoting Teach For America to recruit top-quality, diverse students.Some of my key contributions are as follows: » Developed and fostered relationships between administrators, faculty members, career service representatives, and advisors to execute an effective recruitment campaign. » Managed five school-based teams to achieve ambitious recruitment goals. » Set, defined and met stretch goals that were aligned with larger organizational objectives. » Developed and executed recruitment strategies designed to increase mass visibility on campus.

As a Consultant, I assessed and documented work within the Technical Assistance Resource Center of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, as part of the Making Connections Community Initiative. I completed documentation of four programs within the Steans Family Foundation’s Comprehensive Community Initiative in North Lawndale, Chicago, Illinois. Some of my key contributions are as follows: » Researched and analyzed information on diverse approaches to economic development within Federal Empowerment Zones.» Co-facilitated the Steans Family Foundation strategic planning process. » Co-facilitated a staff retreat for the Southwest Youth Collaborative, Chicago, Illinois.

As a Seventh Grade Spanish Teacher for the Paul Junior High School, I taught Spanish to students and developed a successful curriculum.
