Erica M. Butler, M.E.d. is the Founder and Sex Educator for Happ E. SexTalk, a small education consulting company that believes medically accurate, affirming, culturally competent, comprehensive sex education is a basic human right. She's been providing sex education for almost two decades, and through work with Happ E. SexTalk, we create safer spaces to begin normalizing intergenerational conversations in the Black community between adults and children. Specifically we have discussions surrounding bodies, consent, autonomy, emotional intelligence, unlearning guilt and shame from childhoods that adults have experienced as well as ways to create an environment for healthy childhood sexual development to thrive. We're trying to break generational patterns of negative messages and attitudes about our bodies, pleasure, sexuality, and consent. This experience of utilizing media literacy skills against the messages and portrayals in the media provides an opportunity for teens & young females to feel in control of their sexuality, possibly for the first time in their lives, which provides them with a sense of sexual empowerment & self-esteem about their sexual behaviors & identity development in the future. -

Responsible for management of study data including data entry and ensuring accuracy of data entry.Conducting research protocols and administering all of the study-related documents.Supervision and training of all volunteers for the study.Assist with literature searches and writing processes with regards to dissemination of findings. Conduct compares and assist in analysis of findings. Create and manage all databases and codebooks needed for each individual study-related document administered during the protocols. Recruitment and retention of 108 families that are solely my responsibility.Assist with writing syntax for compare files. -
