Provided students with years of graphic design knowledge and experience. Prepress is the science of converting an initial idea into a printed reality. During the semester, a class of around 20 students become proficient in some of the graphic design industry’s premier software packages: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and QuarkXPress.Students are instructed in page layout, color theory, font management, digital imaging, preflight and electronic file prep. All taught in a state of the art, Macintosh, OS X equipped classroom on RRCC’s campus. This course explores in detail the electronic prepress process. Students examine steps for preparing a digital file for trapping, output considerations and proofing techniques.
