Using the CQRS paradigm, built an asynchronous messaging system on Azure Service Bus to send queued commands and events between cloud and on-premise components.• Designed and built a prototype for an Azure cloud based endpoint for the Microsoft CodeSign system as a proof-of-concept for moving the system to the cloud. The prototype used the following Azure components and technologies: o Azure WebSites o Azure AD o Blob Storage o Azure SQL o Message Queue• Led a team of developers in building the Subscription Eligibility Management (SEM) system that provided new eligibility tracking services to Microsoft Online Assisted Support Portal and Incident Management System in preparation for the Windows 8 launch. The system was built using Azure services for scalability, and it was hosted on Azure as a PaaS hosted model. SEM enabled new support scenarios which the Windows 8 launch required.• Responsible for design excellence and quality development on the “Certification V3” project (a major IT program behind Microsoft Learning - www.microsoft.com/learning) that was historically managed by vendors with little oversight from Microsoft engineers. Streamlined some of existing engineering processes and practices to ensure they adhered more closely to Microsoft IT SDLC.Drove quality upstream by pushing for clarity in business requirements, more complete and well-thought-out functional and technical designs and more stringent code review process. Performed multiple roles ranging from individual developer to technical lead. • Conducted a build vs. buy study; developed proof-of-concepts to understand technical feasibilities of potential solutions.• Design and built foundational components for IMS such as the complete Object Model (OM) and the data access layer.• Helped define and draft design principles/guidelines, coding standards, code review process, development and build processes. As the work gradually shifted to 100% offshore outsourcing, these established processes/guidelines helped maintain high quality bars for all the releases.• Managed several major releases. Achieved high quality in each release by insisting on having clear requirements, performing stringent design and code reviews, requiring high code coverage with unit tests and build automation. The FY12 Q3 release of IMS saw improvement in Build Automation by 23%, in Defect Density by 90% and in Rate of Deferred Defects by 90%.• Extended the platform capability in order to on-board additional programs and support new workflow requirements which enabled business to retire some applications and save costs.• Led the development of a complex security feature on IMS. Gained certification of compliance from US and EU security authorities.• Led the implementation of .NET 4.5-based asynchronous programming model in IMS to improve I/O bound functions. This resulted in 40% improvement in response time in key functions. • Achieved Subject Matter Expert status. • Engaged with senior level architects and managers and business partners in strategic initiatives such as Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, next gen Unified Incident Management.• Mentored junior and vendor developers (InfoSys, India), working directly with them and provided technical guidance.
