Represent the clients on the project site, ensuring design satisfaction and providing field engineering to construction crews and contractors throughout the building process. Inspecting and overseeing construction of bridges, highways and other types of construction work to ensure that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications  Measuring distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts Observing work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications  Examining quality of finished installations for conformity to standard and approve installation Interpreting blueprints and specifications for contractor (construction) and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction Recording quantities of materials received and used during specified periods of construction Maintaining daily logs of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports Computing monthly estimates of work completed and approve payment for contractors Inspecting and reporting on virtually every phase of the construction process: including, but not limited to, civil (site work), structural, building, electrical, mechanical, safety, and hazardous material abatement Ensuring that all contract documents represented by working drawings and specifications are properly executed by the contractors  Establishing and maintaining a professional working relationship with architects, engineers, testing labs, general contractors, subcontractors and the general public
