With an approach rooted in commitment and compassion, I am wholeheartedly dedicated to designing packaging that prioritizes carbon reduction, embraces diverse consumer perspectives, and causes no unnecessary harm. Hi! I’m Eric and if we haven’t talked yet, why not?  Hailing from Michigan, aspirations for a compelling career drove me straight into the depths of what was possible in packaging. After obtaining a B.S. degree at Michigan State University, I landed my dream opportunity with the brand-forward company, REI. The mountains called, and I had to go. I headed west to Seattle. An ounce of Detroitish perseverance and hospitality, mixed with devotion to connecting through consumers at retail, topped with a proven set of sustainability skills became the foundation of my career. Enter the singularly most inspirational people and product packaging problems in the world. In 2017 I joined the YFYJUPITER team and quickly learned a deeper business acumen in global supply chain, Asia community, and discovery. What I gained in the Outdoor Industry was something I wanted to utilize as a foundation for a career in packaging for brand owners and retailers. I've grown with the company, starting as Senior Director managing global design teams and working diligently towards my ambition as Chief Sustainability Officer. For three decades, I have been challenging the status quo driving innovation at complex companies. Pioneering award-winning designs for brands within the Outdoor Industry, Apparel, and Adventure Sports, where the business bottom line depends on protecting wild and scenic places. As a member of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) since its inception (2007), I have continued my education by surrounding myself with the world’s most committed people on the planet to combat climate change. I am currently helping brands implement their Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) action plan and furthering producers on their obligations for Paper and Packaging laws in California, Colorado, and Oregon. As an experienced packaging professional, I am deeply committed to leading with science and creating solutions that prioritize environmental design, global perspectives, recognizing what we do in consumerism can be a healthy, thriving and responsible. I am passionate about fostering a culture of change mindset and devoted to advancing packaging in the next decade. I am based in Denver and always looking for packaging professionals to connect with and learn from. And help anyone serious about their brand and sustainable packaging.
