Partnered with senior managers to expand use of data analytics and AI tools to better understand determinants of current operations and improve future performance and profitability. Led planning and implementation of expanded use of and access to data, analytics tools and business intelligence reports across the firm.

I helped lead a collaborative initiative to improve management, operations and information flows for the provision of internal services through the Department of Justice’s $1.4 billion Working Capital Fund. I provided expert analyses and recommendations on a wide-range of changes to information technology, finance, and human resources services. I worked closely with senior managers across multiple organizations to identify and resolve complex financial and policy issues. As part of my duties, I managed two intra-agency working groups that review provision of internal services and their pricing across the Department of Justice. In close coordination with senior managers, service providers and customers, I developed and implemented a revised pricing structure for internal services. In addition, I spearheaded a multi-year project to redesign and simplify the internal payments process that reduced paperwork, lowered error rates and facilitated customer processing of bills.

I co-founded a personal finance information service for 25-35 year old professionals. As the publisher, I set editorial goals as well as the editorial/production processes for accurate, cost-effective and on-time publication of content. I recruited and managed pool of 18 freelance writers who produced over 3,000 personal finance articles. I also designed location-based, data-driven applications for user-customized content about local banking services and real estate markets. I worked closely with my co-founders and software engineers to create and optimize scalable platforms for desktop and mobile content. In our Washington, DC office, I hired and mentored a small staff of statistics and social media interns to edit, promote and evaluate content reach and effectiveness. I implemented custom strategic planning and program metrics for web content, social media and email outreach campaigns on desktop and mobile platforms.

Over seven years, I completed $4 billion of advisory and capital markets transactions for small and middle market financial services and real estate companies. As a senior banker, I led interaction with company management teams to win new business mandates in the specialty finance, community banking, and mortgage sectors. I worked closely with regulated and non-regulated financial institutions and real estate companies including banks, thrifts, specialty finance companies, mortgage companies, property REITs, mortgage REITs, and business development companies.In addition, I mentored analysts and associates to improve their financial modeling skills and assume greater levels of responsibility and client interaction. I developed and oversaw recruiting and training for new investment banking analysts for several years.

I taught a highly-rated financial accounting course for MBA students with a focus on the production of GAAP accounting information and its use by managers in business analysis, financial statement analysis and corporate valuation.I also created an elective in tax planning and business strategy for MBA students. I designed the course to combine concepts in tax law, finance and accounting to examine real-world tax-planning problems.As an active researcher, I studied price formation and decision making in online markets using large data sets and advanced econometric techniques. I taught PhD courses in empirical research methods and served on the dissertation committees for several PhD candidates.

I analyzed policy issues in regulation, finance, antitrust, bankruptcy and intellectual property. I wrote and edited sections of the 1995 Economic Report of the President and the Weekly Economic Briefing for the President. I also worked with senior officials in the Executive Office of the President and Federal agencies to develop and evaluate specific policy proposals in telecommunications and electricity deregulation.

I joined the Justice Management Division to review the budget for the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). I worked closely with senior Department of Justice, INS, and Office of Management and Budget officials to develop and fund policy initiatives to secure the US borders. Over four years I helped formulate, justify and monitor INS spending through every aspect of the appropriation process.
