I joined Winthrop & Weinstine in 1999 after 10 years at the Minnesota Office of the Attorney General, where my work included directing the Attorney General's litigation, regulatory, appellate and legislative efforts with respect to energy, telecommunications, consumer enforcement and charities matters.Since joining Winthrop & Weinstine, I have focused my practice on representing clients before state and federal regulatory bodies, in the courts and at the legislature, primarily in the areas of energy, telecommunications and environmental law. My energy and environmental work has involved representing a wide variety of clients, including investor-owned utilities, independent power producers, wind energy developers and other renewable energy producers and large industrial customers. My telecommunications work has included representation of incumbent telephone companies, competitive local exchange carriers and video services providers. In addition to representing clients in contested proceedings, I work extensively with clients to gain all necessary regulatory approvals and to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.Specialties: My specific areas of experience and expertise include:- All aspects of energy facility permitting and siting, including wind and solar energy, electric generation and transmission facilities, natural gas and petroleum pipelines. - Extensive litigation before state agencies and appellate courts. - Representation of energy, telecommunications and other clients at the Minnesota State Legislature and in agency rulemaking proceedings.
