Classic jack-of-all trades as is typical in small business owners, I started this business with my wife and business partner, Amanda Barp, after I graduated in 2009 in Portland, OR. The clinic has grown, added and then subtracted a location, and started in a whole new city in 2017 - Astoria, OR. We are very successful, with a dozen employees, and extremely loyal patient population. During the pandemic, I have cut down my practice to focus more on running this business and doing external business consulting work with Deepest Health / Whole Life Practitioner. So, my role with Watershed Wellness is divided chiefly between CEO functions and CMO functions. I am responsible for most planning and evaluation, community relationship management, establishment of policies across most of the business and many other aspects of healthy organizational development. I also take care of our business strategy including planning, managing the editorial calendar, investigating new tools and technologies, developing our brand and voice and I also do most of the graphic design and website maintenance.

This is a website I have been running since 2007 to explore, connect & teach about Chinese medicine. I have written and taught courses about a variety of medical topics with a special focus on Chinese herbs. This was a one person operation - I did everything. I designed and ran the website, did all of the marketing strategy and execution, built the courses and managed the tech for delivery, applied for government continuing education credits, built my audience and communicated with them, and so on.As time has gone on, this website has become more focused on helping alternative medicine providers run authentic businesses while still maintaining balanced and joyful lives. I am now doing consulting and coaching for these businesses with my wife and business partner, Amanda Barp, under the name Whole Life Practitioner. We do hands-on intensive consulting as well as lower-touch group coaching experiences for self starters. I am chiefly responsible for running the technological side of things as well as running the marketing & doing all the coaching that relates to marketing and executive communication.
