About Eric Grootendorst
A firefighter since 2006, I am dedicated to progressive firefighting and rescue strategies and tactics to mitigate emergency situations and preserve life. My passion is not only firefighting, but also special operations. I have worked extensively in this field including opportunities to teach most technical rescue disciplines around the province. I further my dedication to progressive firefighting with my work on several NFPA standards. For 5 years I was afforded the opportunity to lead one of Canada’s six heavy urban search and rescue teams based in Vancouver, BC. Finally, I am now able to utilize my knowledge and experience to lead and support the Kelowna Fire Department through effective training programs and initiatives.
