The Communications Coordinator & Secretary is responsible for supporting the Communications Director in all facets of AIGA DC marketing and messaging, with a focus on blog efforts, sourcing authors and content. Additionally, this role assumes Secretarial duties, taking notes at our monthly board meetings and archiving them. This person reports to the Communications Director.

Contracted through Aquent, I worked as a Contract Visual Information Specialist at the Office of Visual Information and Printing within the Office of the Secretary at the United States Department of Transportation.

My role was an entry to mid-level position in the design department. I worked independently on assigned projects, or as a member of a project team. I worked up concepts and fulfilled layout assignments according to supplied strategic and creative input. I occasionally worked directly with account services, or with production artists and outside contractors (freelancers and vendors), but more typically, I worked under the direction of art directors and the Production/Traffic manager. My key responsibilities were:· Supporting graphic designers and art directors on campaign development and production deliverables, as well as keeping the company website and client websites current.· Supporting new business and company needs for meetings, presentations, and internal design projects, as well as being accountable for assigned budgets and alerts production manager if this is questionable before the budget is exceeded.· Working with art directors, graphic designers, copywriters and additional designated “team” personnel in production of said materials.· Assisting in archiving and maintaining digital files, project hard copies, photography, illustrations, logo art, typestyles, historical collateral samples, etc., of client materials and resources, and in maintaining a log of said archives to assist other department members in locating necessary files and references.

Assisted in the set up of playbills at all gates prior to every Washington Nationals home game during the 2013 Regular Season, assisted in managing inventory of playbills and publications, and worked with the lead graphic designer in layout, design, proofing of creative projects including sales/marketing collateral, publications, online, etc.
