I have over 12 years working within the healthcare environment as an internal and external consultant focused on leadership development, culture change, and quality improvement. I have worked with some of the largest health systems in the country to include: Catholic Health East, Catholic Health West, Alegent Health System, Health East and National Institute for Health. As an organizational psychologist, facilitator, collaborator, mediator, and certified life coach I bring an innovative mix of science and practical processes to assist people and teams to move toward the goals and outcomes they desire.My current interests focuses on the issue of compassion fatigue, burnout, and secondary trauma experienced by primary care providers dealing with difficult or acutely ill patients. These care providers often experience secondary symptoms of their patients leading to health related and emotional difficulties (stress, depression, hypertension, etc.). I see our work as coaches and the contributions of positive psychology as a way to assist care providers to effectively cope with these issues. Moreover, I see the opportunity to work with leaders in health organizations to fundamentally change the way we view our employees and the culture of healthcare.My second interest focuses on spirituality in the workplace. I believe that we are all called to be a contribution to others. That we all have a purpose that we are called to fulfill. In order to do this well we must create organizations that foster not only the doing in the work place (e.g., pay for performance, productivity, etc.) but we must also honor and respect the being of each individual. We must recognize that each of us has dreams and desires, each of us is 100% committed to the life we are living and when given the opportunity we are all capable of flourishing and making a difference in the lives of others.
