Using Aspen, modeled an aromatics distillation column to optimize operations resulting in savings >$400K/year.As a Certified Six-Sigma Green Belt, lead a team of peer engineers and operators to improve quench oil operations with savings of >$500K/ year. Also lead a separate team to optimize caustic scrubber operation resulting in savings >$200K/year. Major contributor of investigation team for finding root cause of a major furnace fire. During Hurricane Rita, provided technical support to prevent a costly and unplanned shutdown of the HCC-4 Steam Cracker. My impromptu problem-solving skills prevented severe environmental ramifications.Contributed $2M annual savings to TEX's R&D Chemicals Development Group and Eastman's success by completing three 2005 "Grand Slam” tracking projects > $900K per year.Served as mentor to junior level engineers.While on a one-year assignment in an Alkyd Polymers batch plant in Ennis, TX, I successfully implemented various process improvement projects from inception to completion that resulted in annual savings of $450K.

Managed capital projects ranging from $50K to $1M to support safety, environmental and value-creating projects. Most important projects included the installation of $1M PC-based pipeline operations monitoring system and installation of a new loading facility that resulted in additional annual sales of $1M.Responsible for MOC’s and served as resident expert on all PHA’s and HAZOP’s.Served as Division Safety Coordinator over 100+ people. Most important contribution included successful implementation of a behavioral-based safety process that reduced injury rates over 50%.
