As substitute assistant teacher I was responsible to help the teacher manage the classroom and help students with their tasks. Perform class activities for K – 12 grade levels. Help students develop skills, read stories with children, help teacher to manage and organize the classroom. Keep the students entertained and teach lessons with a story while teachers did state testing. Perform activities to help the students practice their English and Spanish. Worked with special ED students from K-12. Usually worked from 7:30 am – 4 pm. Not working during summer, start working again in September. As a multilingual office specialist, I performed general office tasks and communicated with students, teachers, parents, office staff and the principal. I would answer phone calls, emails and transfer phone calls to appropriate individuals. Every Monday I would arrange meetings, schedule appointments for parents to meet with the principal and often translate for non English speaking parents, arrange conferences, greet visitors and handle their inquiries, and direct them to the appropriate persons according to their needs. Maintain paper and electronic filing systems for records and correspondence and other material. Supervise other clerical staff and provide training and orientation to new staff. Operate office equipment such as fax machines, copy machines, and phone systems, and use computers for spreadsheet, word processing, network communications, fix computer problems, database management and other applications.
