Hi, my name is Eric Anderson, and I am a licensed real estate agent, general contractor, universal and accessible design consultant, and former home appraiser who specializes in accessible housing. My journey in this field started in 1998 when I started my durable medical equipment supply business, USA Rehab, in Baltimore, Maryland. Working with my clients in their homes, I became aware of how a disability could confine you within your own home and how the equipment could only do so much. I started studying universal design in real estate in 2000. In 2006, I founded Accessible Housing Services to provide real estate, design, and construction management services to those in need of temporary or permanent accessible housing. Since 1998, I have completed over 1500 residential accessibility projects across the United States through my two companies. Today, I work as a consultant with insurance companies, special needs trust attorneys, and catastrophically injured individuals being discharged into their communities.I have assisted in negotiating settlements and completed projects for high-profile clients who have been catastrophically injured in their line of work, including professional hockey players, Indy 500 race car drivers, and Cirque du Soleil performers. My expertise ranges from facilitating and negotiating complex property acquisitions to construction management and everything in between. All projects– and I mean ALL projects– pertain to residential accessibility.I have been retained around the country as an expert witness in medical malpractice lawsuits by both plaintiffs and defense. I have also participated in many workers' compensation hearings in various states.I excel at working with multiple parties with different interests. Acting as an objective third party, I ensure that the insurance companies and the injured find solutions that are both practical and reasonable, leading to satisfaction for both sides of the table. My passion for universal design led me to design and build a model home in Pikesville, MD, which I used as an office, UD laboratory, and demonstration house. This barrier-free home was highlighted in Ultimate Home Design Magazine in April 2008. So don’t make a costly mistake! Contact me if you - have a home that is not working for accessible living - need temporary or permanent accessible housing - require an expert witness for legal actions or settlement negotiationshttp://www.accessiblehousingservices.com
