I currently lead the Software Engineering Practice for Avanade's Midwest Region. Comprised of 85 Microsoft-focused engineers, we implement cutting-edge digital solutions for our clients on Azure which range from building GenAI-infused applications, advising clients on improving SDLC with GenAI and products like GitHub Copilot, modernizing a portfolio of applications as part of an Azure migration effort, reimagining large/complex business critical monolithic systems, or moving clients away from COBOL on Mainframe to .NET or Java using our proprietary AMT toolset. In my role, I'm responsible for leading the team which covers all technical pre-sales, project delivery, people management, and operations within the Practice.

As the Solution Strategist for Banking & Capital Markets, I worked with our sales team in an industry-focused CTO-like role to help define the business needs and position the right solutions to drive optimal business value for our clients. Solutions spanned all-things Microsoft - ranging from migrations to Azure or M365, enabling the various components of E5 Security, implementing modern data platforms in support of machine learning and AI, modernization of custom applications, and everything in between.

In this role I drove the growth and development of Avanade's portfolio of go-to-market offerings focused on Application Development. This involved the development of offering-related sales and delivery collateral, execution of sales campaigns, and support of pre-sales activities across North America. I also developed the strategy/content for and organized/delivered training sessions in NA and Europe to grow over 120 senior application architects in modern evolutionary architecture practices such as Domain Driven Development, Microservices, and DevSecOps.

I led numerous projects as a technical PM and Architect, spanning everything from greenfield product development, legacy application modernization, and assessment/strategy engagements. I directed project teams distributed across multiple geographies, with the largest team size being 100+ engineers, BAs, and testers.

At Grange, I led the architecture, development, and modernization of web-based platforms for quoting/selling both Personal Lines and Life insurance. Key accomplishments included the transformation of a proprietary desktop application for quoting Life Insurance into a scalable/centralized web based .NET application. Additionally, I co-architected the modernized Personal Lines platform, modernizing from an aging VB6/ASP based architecture to a scalable service-oriented .NET architecture.

Smartpipes was a startup focused on delivering a SaaS platform to manage corporate VPNs, which later became Endforce and was acquired by Sophos. During my time there I worked as a Test Engineer doing both functional and automated load testing, as well as a Software Engineer for both the business tier and software packaging teams. Our systems were highly distributed, component-based architectures built in C++ running on Windows servers, and stretching the limits of COM+ / DCOM and ASP.

I began my career as a Consultant at Software Architects (later acquired by Sogeti). I worked as a developer on multi-tier web applications for retail and insurance clients. During this time I had my first experience modernizing systems, as we moved VB6-based thick-client systems to scalable C++ components for use by multiple front-ends.
