I joined the UnitedHealth Group Ventures team as the first analyst level employee hired by the team. In this capacity, I was in charge of all modeling efforts for new investment and market opportunities. Another large part of my job function was the analyze the market to identify and develop new investment opportunities. While at UHGV, I conducted extensive research across numerous health care cost areas to develop expertise in potential markets. This enabled me to enhance my data analysis skills and to translate this data into a story that was easily understood by target audiences. I worked on building many business cases for potential businesses which included a successful development and launch of a collaborative care orthopedic clinic business with multiple locations.

I joined Optum's Corporate Development team during a time in which the company was very active in the M&A market. During my time with Optum, I led modeling efforts for numerous M&A deals. Modeling efforts included DCF, precedent transactions and comparable companies analysis. I was also deeply involved in due diligence for potential deals and have a firm understanding of the process. I played a major role in closing acquisitions with an aggregate purchase price of over $120 million. Aside from experience with M&A analysis, I provided extensive research of the competitive landscape of the health care services space. Due to the ever changing nature of the health care services space, these analyses pushed me to become an expert in the space. I gained invaluable experience in strategy and industry analysis in this position.

I spent the summer of 2009 as a Mergers and Acquisitions Analyst Intern at 3M. During my time there, I developed financial models utilized for valuation of potential acquisition target companies. I also modeled and screened for targets in the safety and security, and manufacturing industries. During the summer, I also prepared an investor relations PowerPoint presentation used by 3M.
