I am a seasoned operating executive whose grit, analytical skills, and leadership approach has been instrumental in helping startups grow and scale from an idea to successful businesses. Over the past 15 years at BuzzFeed, Cheddar, and Operative, I have a proven track record of hiring, developing, and leading highly effective teams, building entrepreneurial cultures, improving and scaling operations, and building great products and services. As Chief Business Operations Officer at BuzzFeed, I was responsible for all aspects of our business operations and have hired and built a global 100+ person team spanning sales strategy & planning, marketing, research, events, ad product, account management, ad operations, social discovery, client analytics, and project management. As the fifth employee hired in April 2008, I was a key figure in developing our business model, operationalizing our entire business/company, building partnerships, and helping us scale and grow from 5 employees and no revenue to over 1000 employees and revenue well in excess of $100MM. Prior to joining BuzzFeed, I was VP of Product Management at Operative Media, where I built a world class product team and helped to build what is still the best of breed Advertising Management platform. I also started and built the professional services practice which served as a key differentiator for Operative. Prior to Operative, I spent 4.5 years as Director of Operations at washingtonpost.com and spent several years doing consulting for Price Waterhouse. I hold an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University and live with my wife, two children and dog in Brooklyn.
