About Eric M Sargeant

Eric M Sargeant is an environmental designer, educator, and visual storyteller with 20 professional years experience working in the fields of landscape architecture, planning, and urban design. He has successfully collaborated as both an employee and consultant to numerous design and technology-led firms up and down the west coast. – such as SketchUp (AEC Instructional Design & Marketing), Arcadis-IBI Group (Placemaking & Transit-Oriented Communities), WATG (Global Hospitality), Walker Macy (Landscape Architecture), and Studio One Eleven (Urban Design).As a Cal Poly Pomona alumni (BSLA), Eric employs the 'learn-by-doing' philosophy by mentoring landscape architecture students via sklls-based workshops and technology classes that increase their digital drawing and visual representation skills. Eric's taught multiple courses at Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo and Pomona), Chapman University (Orange, CA), The Art institute (Portland, OR), and has hosted workshops for Portland State University, Marylhurst University, and University of Southern CA (USC). Eric’s graphic work can be seen published online on Metro.net and in print in Landscape World Magazine (Vol. 22, 2009), 1000x Landscape Architecture (2008), and Landscape Architecture Magazine (June 2008).As if doing architectural illustration, designing, and teaching in the classroom wasn't enough, Eric more recently helped build and create learning content for Trimble SketchUp's self-paced online learning platform, SketchUp Campus (learn.sketchup.com). Eric wears multiple hats for SketchUp, playing an instrumental role in planning and implementing their biennial user conference, 3D Basecamp, by leading the space planning and wayfinding process, organizing and executing the community-led 'Augmented Reality Exhibition', staffing the Knowledge Hub (SketchUp's 'genius bar' support center), and leading workshops and presentations. His 3D models and visualizations for SketchUp can be seen in both the 2020 and 2024 in-product release imagery as well as several of their latest major marketing initiatives.
