Hi, my name is Eric Rodriguez. I graduate from CSULB with a bachelors degree in aerospace engineering. I am currently seeking a full time job in the aerospace industry. Some fields that pique my interest are propulsion and systems engineering. I appreciate any opportunity to broaden my skill set and get experience in different facets of my major. My relevant experience comes from CSULB's Beach Launch Team a student rocketry club, working on their liquid bi-propellant rocket. I have been responsible for designing, modeling, and machining various components of the Theseus rocket.

Operations AssistantCsulb Beach Launch Team Oct 2023 - Jun 2024Long Beach, California, United StatesIn this role I was able to practice technical writing through my responsibility of helping to create test plans and procedures for club wide events such as hot firing testing and launch. Acting as test director and participating in investigations post failure and implementing corrective action to mitigate failure during testing. Some of things I got to do in this role include:-Authored test plans, revised procedures to improve the efficiency and clarity for teams operating and interfacing with hot fire test stand.- Acted as a test director during hot fire testing of an LR-101 engine, leading and coordinating 5 subsystem teams.- Participated in investigations by writing After Action Reports(AARs) to analyze and determine root cause of failure post hot fire testing, implementing corrective action for subsequent tests.- Reviewed and approved testing procedures relating to operating high pressure systems and handling cryogenic materials.- Provided on-console support and operating GUI for ground fluid system testing during water/cold flow testing of hot fire test stand. -
Aerostructures Designer/ResearcherCsulb Beach Launch Team Jun 2022 - Sep 2023Long Beach, California, United StatesDesign, analyze, and manufactured structural components for the Theseus rocket such as centering rings and test frames for water flow testing. Utilized ANSYS FLUENT to perform convergence studies on a various models, to determine best design from convergence studies analysis and normal and axial forces. Some of the other things I accomplished during my team in this team:-Conducted hydrostatic tests on propellant flight tanks at 900 psi to verify ability to withstand operational pressures.-Manufactured fiberglass dog bone test samples via vacuum bagging for tensile and compressive testing.-Performed convergence studies in ANSYS Fluent on clipped delta and trapezoidal fins to compare flight performance based on lift, drag, and deformation, to determine optimal selection for rocket assembly.-Designed and 3D printed a mold for performing a fiberglass layup of rocket recovery hatch while wearing a respirator.-Created a centering ring for a COPV including the creation of the machining plans, manufacturing drawings, Fusion 360 g-code, and performed manual operations on mill and lathe. -
Additive Manufacturing Research Assistant Level IiCalifornia State University, Long Beach Sep 2023 - Jun 2024Long Beach, California, United StatesDuring my time as a AM Research Assistant for the Additive Manufacturing Advanced Materials Lab on campus; I researched solutions to mitigating the damage on wind turbines and aircraft from lightning strikes via conductive composite coatings. I conducted research underneath Professor Mortaza Saeidi and some of the things I did while in this position were:- Manufacturing nanocomposite thin films via spin coating-Created Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs) for lab hardware including spin coater and vacuum oven- Characterized conductive thin films via 4 point probing-Led data analysis meetings to devise changes to manufacturing processes to further increase electrical conductivity.- Created data tables and plots with Microsoft Excel to compare film conductivity vs mixture concentration-Collaborated with 3 other research students -
