When government mandates in the various states banned plastic grocery bags, we delivered RagBags. This patented solution, made from biodegradable material is re-usable and provides a “second life” as a super absorbent rag.We created another innovative product called OceanPoly bags that addresses the waste of plastic flowing into oceans. Certified by SCS, the premier organization for post consumer recycled certification, it's made from the reclaimed and recovered plastic waste. We help solve a global environmental issue and deliver new sustainable packaging solutions to our customers.With our online business booming, we’ve created another green innovation called ReThinkPoly. These plastic bags and poly mailers use 90% post consumer recycled materialAlong with eco-friendly initiatives, Metropak is known for its outstanding design capabilities. From creative to process fulfilment, my team approaches our customer not as a supplier, but as a packaging design and execution partner. He was headed for vacation and needed someone to “look after the shop”. I was in between jobs. While I never cared to work in the packaging business that my father started, I discovered an industry I enjoyed. When my dad retired, I partnered with one of my best friends to purchase the company.Running a manufacturing business in the US is challenging. There've been some lean times. But I’m proud to say we’ve not only survived but are thriving.I believe a large part of our success is due to my inquisitive nature and DNA to solve problems. The values I impart on the organization are innovation, integrity and accountability.Metropak makes shopping bags, poly mailers, gift bags and custom packaging for brick & mortar retail, ecommerce and promotional use.In our early years, there was a need for quality plastic tote bags. When we couldn’t fill these orders adequately, we invested in manufacturing and became a leader in that market.As plastic grew out of favor in many states, we refocused our efforts on sustainable packaging. We’ve been at the forefront of the industry with award winning reusable and eco-friendly poly solutions since.With ecommerce exploding, we pivoted and created eco-friendly solutions including poly mailers and reusable gift bags.In all situations, our design team is constantly exploring and developing creative solutions. From creative to presenting eco-friendly packaging options, we strive to be a value-added partner.
