Contributing as a developer and manager of a team of firmware engineers working on security related firmware in the Digital Video Technology group. Firmware operates on the embedded security processor of SOC chips utilized in cable and satellite TV set-top boxes.Team's responsibilities include secure boot process, code authentication utilizing RSA signature verification, and periodic data integrity checks. Team also responsible for maintaining and improving test and regression framework, including "push button" automation and performance improvements to reduce overall regression time.

Working on security related firmware in the Digital Video Technology group. Firmware operates on the embedded security processor of SOC chips utilized in cable and satellite TV set-top boxes.Responsibilities included ownership for data authentication subsystem, secure boot process, and tool development to facilitate automated testing and integration. Led firmware releases for several set-top chips, including both pre-tapeout and post-tapeout bug fixes and feature additions. Efforts included coordinating feature development and bug fixes across multiple team members, and performing pre-tapeout emulation based regression testing and post-tapeout on-chip based regression testing.Contributed efforts to improve team communication and sharing of technology in order to facilitate software development processes and overall team efficiency.

(Sun acquired Cray Business Systems division of Cray Resarch in 1996).Operating System (Solaris) level software development, primarily on high-end servers. Significant contributor to Dynamic Reconfiguration feature which allowed hardware components (cpus, memory, I/O devices) to be dynamically added/removed from a running system without disrupting running software. Development effort required intimate knowledge of operating system and hardware design and interaction. Contributor to Dynamic System Domains which was the capability to partition computer physical components into logically separate systems.Design and developed high-speed networking subsystem utilizing an unique built-in shared memory hardware mechanism to allow TCP/IP communication between Dynamic System Domains utilizing the server system bus.Developed operating system level software and hypervisor level firmware to utilize processor built-in hardware security mechanisms to export such functionality to higher level software subsystems.Responsibilities included individual contributor and also team leadership responsibilities in architecting high-end server subsystems.

Cray's venture into high-end general purpose SPARC based Unix servers. Was involved with low-level Operating System development and some platform bring-up. Contributed on "hot swap" feature in early SPARC server platform, Cray Superserver 6400. Feature allowed coordinated replacement of processor/memory/I/O system boards in a running system without having to shutdown/reboot the system.Division was Cray Business Systems. We were acquired by Sun Microsystems in 1996 when Silicon Graphics, Inc. purchased Cray and then immediately sold our division to Sun.

Developed a test framework to facilitate automated testing of NCR proprietary mainframes from a standard Unix machine. Required developing Unix based applications to execute/manage the tests, in addition to a user interface.Developed software which allowed NCR Unix servers to be integrated to NCR proprietary mainframes and to appear as Application Processors within the NCR mainframe domain.Member of team that participated in joint-development with Teradata in developing high-end Unix based server platform (Enterprise 3700). Developed operating system based sub-systems and system call APIs to facilitate optimized integration with Teradata Database software. Also worked on embedded communication subsystem, BYNET, used as high-speed system interconnect linking Application and Data Storage processors comprising a full Teradata Database computer system.
