I love studying and understanding the methodologies of an adversary, developing, and deploying countermeasures to defend and protect those most vulnerable to attacks in high stakes environments. I came across a quote by Albert Einstein early in my career which I’ve followed through my career progression.“You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.”I began my professional career with the United States Air Force as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. I was assigned with some of the most dangerous missions, to perform tactically harrowing and technically demanding tasks in diverse environments worldwide. I deployed to the rolling plains and mountains of southern and eastern Afghanistan to reduce the adversary's ability to inflict harm on the local populace and multinational forces. Together, with some of the best and bravest Airmen, we identified and learned their tactics, techniques, and procedures to develop and deploy countermeasures. I conducted 400+ operations in five months analyzing post-blast scenes, destroying hundreds of thousands of pounds of enemy munitions, and safing improved explosive devices. Our effort led to a decrease in lives lost and a greater freedom of movement for coalition forces.I have taken this analytical approach, along with knowledge gained through a Master’s in Cybersecurity Risk Management and industry certifications, to the world of cybersecurity. I study and understand the various attack vectors to develop and implement controls and countermeasures for information systems. I interpret technical jargon for managers and directors to ensure business units comply with industry standards and regulations. I conduct risk assessments and impact analysis to ensure business continuity during periods of disruption.I have been blessed to have worked with some of the best, brightest, and bravest individuals throughout my career.
