This role has a much greater focus on public engagement. I oversaw the build and launch of Engage Allen, the city's online public engagement platform, and have managed it's use for several large-scale projects such as the 2023 Bond process, the 2045 Comprehensive Plan update, the Ford Park Master Plan update, the Parks and Recreation ADA Transition Plan update and more. I have also supported other departments in onboarding to the Engage Allen platform and provide assistance and resources to those teams as needed.In addition to managing the use of the online platform, I attend some in-person events or meetings that our office feels are good public engagement opportunities for City of Allen staff. I also attend meetings and occasionally provide updates to the Community Engagement Advisory Board.I have worked alongside consultants to execute engagement activities and am currently laying the groundwork for enhancing our organization's presence in the Allen community.I continue to oversee the city's use of the Constant Contact email newsletter platform. Through this platform, I build and send the city's weekly newsletter, monthly utility billing update and bi-monthly Boards & Commissions email. Additionally, I provide writing on a regular basis for the city website, social media and printed material.

This role is an evolution of my previous role at the City of Allen as a Marketing Coordinator. Many responsibilities carried over from my previous role, however I now have a new focus on content generation and coordination with other teams and departments.Through the use of Sprout Social, I fill our social media content schedule week to week. Much of this content comes from the City’s website, but some is created specifically for the City’s social media and/or for use in larger campaigns.Some of the unique content I’ve created includes several entertaining/informational video series, “education through humor” photo sets, and scripted live broadcasts.Additionally through Sprout Social, I monitor the City’s social media channels and respond to questions we receive from residents, generate chat bots for our pages, and create analytics reports.Like my previous role at the City of Allen, I also manage the City’s main email newsletter. This newsletter was overhauled in 2019 in order to bring it up to modern standards and better fit the needs of the Allen community.

Public And Media Relations Office

I helped ensure open communication with our community by supporting and maintaining the city's communication channels and network. Primarily, I worked to keep the city website updated with new information and content. This content includes news releases & briefs, photos, and newsletters & graphics. Topics on the website can vary, but generally include community events, city council meetings, and important notices.Along with keeping the website updated, I generated content for the City of Allen's social media platforms, which include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. This involves planning and scheduling content ahead of time, as well as monitoring current trends. I often worked with other departments including Parks and Recreation, Police, Fire, Planning and more. We worked together to promote events and accolades from these departments on our general city platforms.

I managed the interactive and engagement side of The Underreported, an online news show from Martin Rather. In particular, I curated and compiled questions and topics for the weekly ask-me-anything live stream.

Office Of Health Promotion

I managed all of the marketing material, campaigns and social media for the Office of Health Promotion. Along with this, I worked extensively in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign to create and edit graphics and promotional material. I also took photos at events which I then edited and compiled into albums. A few of these pictures were selected for use on social media as well.

I updated and created content for the Foundation's Facebook page with information on our events and public activities. I also worked to build a stronger following on the Foundation's other online platforms.

Public And Media Relations Office

Assisted with multiple informational campaigns pertaining to residents' interests, including summer watering regulations, cricket tournaments and digital communications. Additionally, I updated the city's website with written content about these items. I also participated in a number of social media efforts to increase residents' knowledge and involvement with different city departments and their day-to-day functions.

I spent my time as a reporter mostly writing concert pieces, though I would branch out when there was a good story in another subject. I used this experience to further hone my writing skills and to find my own written voice.
