Led a forward deployed staff that provided administrative support and control of 350 Navy personnel assigned to non-Navy organizations in Afghanistan, Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait and other locations throughout the Central Command jurisdiction. Functioned as the Navy's primary interface with senior leaders from other services and agencies regarding matters that concern the well-being, readiness, and employment of Navy personnel.

Provided seminar-style instruction for hundreds of prospective commanding officers and executive officers (organizational leaders) representing all Navy areas of expertise, reinforcing fundamental tenets of leadership and improving the decision-making foundation of officers about to assume command and executive positions in Navy organizations. Managed the daily activities of staff members and synchronized the efforts of a teaching cadre composed of senior military instructors. Course lead for Prospective Executive Officer Leadership Course. Mentored prospective executives, providing insights via various personality and leadership assessment tools.

Led a 400-person, 9-aircraft aviation squadron in the execution of real-world operational missions to include maritime patrol, overland surveillance and reconnaissance, anti-submarine warfare and anti-ship warfare. Responsible for the organization, operations, maintenance and administration of the squadron and its aircraft, plus the training, development, good order and discipline of its personnel. Served as Commander, Task Groups 72.2 and 72.4, leading a multi-organization, geographically dispersed group of 500 people and 17 aircrews, operating during wartime from 3 permanent sites and numerous temporary locations across the western Pacific from June - December 2006.

Served as Air ASW Requirements staff officer within the ASW Division (N74) of the OPNAV Requirements Directorate (N7). Established and validated requirements for air-based anti-submarine warfare systems for inclusion within the Navy budget and program of record. Analyzed and evaluated various science and technology prototypes and initiatives to support recommendations for incorporating the most promising technologies within formal acquisition programs. Served as the Electronic Warfare staff officer within the Information Operations Division (N39) of the Operations and Plans Directorate (N3/5). Functioned as the Navy lead for policy formulation concerning electronic warfare and the electromagnetic spectrum.

Led several key departments – Operations, Training, Tactics, Professional Development - within a 400-person, 9-aircraft aviation squadron in the execution of real-world operational missions to include maritime patrol, overland surveillance and reconnaissance, anti-submarine warfare and anti-ship warfare. Organized and directed the training and operational employment of 12 combat aircrews. Mission Commander for an 11-person combat aircrew in the P-3C aircraft. Naval Flight Officer (NFO) Instructor, teaching individuals technical and tactical aspects of the aircraft, and training, assessing and certifying individuals and entire aircrews in the performance of required missions and tasks.

Responsible for synchronizing the efforts of communications teams and systems from all ships in the strike group. Developed and coordinated naval force communications plans and architectures for joint and multinational exercises. Orchestrated uninterrupted communications for a deployed carrier strike group that operated around the globe over a six-month period. Functioned as Strike Group Watch Officer, coordinating the tactical efforts of various warfare commanders within the Strike Group during underway operations to defend the group and accomplish operational tasks. Served as Information Warfare Commander, coordinating the efforts of various surveillance and Electronic Warfare assets to support the execution of Strike Group missions.

Served as a project manager and concept developer within an aviation test squadron established to evaluate newly developed systems and weapons prior to large scale procurement and introduction throughout the Navy. Project Manager for the Extended Echo Ranging (EER) Fleet Assistance Support Team, involved in testing, training and problem resolution associated with this system among fleet aviation squadrons. Deputy Project Manager for the Sonobuoy Missile Impact Locating System (SMILS), supporting the operational readiness of fleet ballistic missile submarines. Developed tactics for employing several airborne anti-submarine, surveillance and maritime strike systems and weapons undergoing development and operational evaluation. Naval Flight Officer (NFO) Instructor and Evaluator, training, assessing and certifying aircrew individuals in the performance of required tasks.

Managed the daily maintenance activities, and administrative functions of 4 officers and 70 maintenance technicians. Readiness manager; tracked and reported individual, aircraft and aircrew readiness data to squadron executive leadership and higher echelons.
