Genetic Testing Consultant at PerkinElmer Genomics. I am a certified genetic counselor with 8 years of clinical genetic counseling experience. I currently hold licenses in IL, OK, and AR, but have worked primarily in the state of MO. For 5 years, I helped to establish and build a pediatric genetics service line in a health care system that spans a 4 state geographical area. From this original vision of ambulatory in person pediatric genetics, I helped the clinic expand into telemedicine services supporting the NICUs/PICUs across our system. I also worked to establish adult services in clinic including oncology genetic counseling services and cardiology genetic counseling services. I was also the administrative supervisor to the prenatal genetic counseling area in addition to my clinical duties in pediatrics. In this role, I pushed to expand services to Women's Health Oncology genetic counseling and telemedicine for both oncology and prenatal/preconception services. I have served on Mercy's Laboratory Utilization Committee for 5 years. I supervised student rotations from UAMS. I continue to give a few lectures a year for their genetic counseling program, and serve as a thesis adviser. My first 3 years of clinical experience were at WashU and Barne's Jewish Hospital working as a prenatal genetic counselor on the ultrasound unit and Fetal Care team. I screened egg donors through their egg donor program. In this capacity, I also taught medical students and supervised clinical rotations for residents in the OBGYN department and fellows in the MFM and Medical Genetics programs. Throughout my career, I have contributed to 6 publications, designed patient literature for a state newborn screen program, and contributed to a high school curriculum on preventable birth defects.
