I lead the day-to-day operational management and leadership of NHS South Yorkshire programme communications, acting as the communications and engagement advisor to programmes within the Integrated Care System. I am responsible for enabling programmes to access communications and engagement resources required to implement the communications plans of networks, alliances and collaboratives. I was the Communications and Engagement Associate for the South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw and North Derbyshire Cancer Alliance, part of Health and Care Working Together in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw.My role included, but wasn’t limited, to; communications planning, campaign management, events management, media relations, reputation management, internal communications, digital communications, publications and marketing.I developed and delivered communications and engagement activity to support the alliance within a project managed approach, providing updates and advice to the steering board and key partners.I planned and delivered communications activity and campaigns, developing and presenting complex and sensitive information and messaging to multiple audiences including all levels of staff, public, patients, stakeholders and partners. I also provide specialist advice to staff, managers and patients on communications and media issues to promote the work of the alliance and support public accountability.I was the Cancer Alliance media contact and liaised with the regional press proactively and re-actively. I maintained a good relationship with the media and other key contacts in order to develop and maintain the alliance’s reputation.
