About Erin Brady
Stemming from my own challenges as an undergraduate, my PhD in Engineering Education focuses on the stories of how engineering students face challenges at university and how this affects their resilience. I'm enjoying the venture into qualitative - especially narrative - research methods as a big change from my undergraduate degree. In addition, I'm beginning my second year as a Teaching Associate for undergraduate engineering content following a successful first year that enabled me to succeed in my application to become an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).I've also been involved with numerous different STEM outreach projects for the past years, from aiding with a food festival during secondary school ("Punch the Custard" was especially fun to supervise) to my current role as Outreach Leader of a group of students who deliver outreach in a local community. I'm keen to promote the co-designing and co-leading of outreach projects with STEM students, and to a similar end I currently head the student branch of the University of Bristol's Engineering Education Research Group to encourage students' participation as co-investigators in this field.
